This unique Port Douglas resort with advanced ecotourism accreditation sits spectacularly on top of the headland providing breathtaking view of untouched coastline and the Coral Sea, and is the perfect setting for special incentives or small conference groups.

The bungalows are built high on stilts and nestle in the forest canopy providing a magical and unobtrusive relationship with the natural world. All bungalows have views either to the ocean or the forested mountains. Time spent relaxing on the timber-decked verandahs is always well rewarded by sightings of birds,  butterflies, possums and sugar gliders.

The Coral Sea views from Osprey’s Restaurant and Curlews Lounge are panoramic. Guests enjoy events amongst the birds in surrounding treetops whilst savouring world-class fine food with friendly five star service.

Magical Incentives are created at Thala Beach Nature Reserve. Function venues include our coconut palm plantation, private beach and Herbies Beach Shack as well as our star gazing Observatory located deep within the forest.

Thala is an unsurpassed enchanting environment: the possibilities for inspirational and motivational Incentives are endless.

Here are some ideas for your event or incentive at Thala:

Gone Walkabout

The mystical sounds of a Didgeridoo float over the sand dunes as you arrive at Herbie’s Beach Shack for a ‘Coconut Hit’ fresh from the shell. Try your hand at husking your own coconut or just sit back and watch the shoreline transform from day into night. The barbeque is sizzling as the aromas of gastronomic Bush Blends fill the air. Waves are lapping at your feet on the sand and the majestic mountains are glowing in the sunset as the birds go to roost after another day in paradise. Traditional Aboriginal dancers then lead you to the outdoor observatory for star gazing and sumptuous desserts. Enjoy a unique opportunity to see the Southern Cross and other astronomical wonders in the totally natural environment at Thala Beach Nature Reserve.

Coco – nuts!
As you arrive at the coconut plantation for a ‘Coconut Hit’ fresh from the shell, get your artistic head on for a unique opportunity to express your creativity. The Osprey overhead will watch as an Aboriginal artist guides you through the steps to re-create an indigenous masterpiece. After an Aussie barbeque picnic lunch, forage in the bush for flora to build a centerpiece for your dinner table tonight. A great way to throw down the gauntlet and inspire some competitive spirit.
