Port Douglas Carnivale is an annual fun-filled festival held across different venues in the tropical town of Port Douglas. Fabulous food, creative floats, dring burlesque, a family-friendly beach party and with one of Australia’s favourite bands in town (spoiler alert: ARIA legends Eskimo Joe are playing live under the palm trees at Rex Smeal Park), this year’s festival line-up looks better than ever!

Celebrating its 25th year in 2019, Port Douglas Carnivale is an annual fiesta of fabulous fun and entertainment with a unique Tropical North Queensland twist. Showcasing the best of the region’s abundant produce and fresh ingredients from land and sea, world class wines, market stalls, international entertainers, local musicians and artists plus a stack of family fun, Port Douglas Carnivale is one of Australia’s premiere cultural events.
This year, Port Douglas Carnivale will feature festival favorite the Wonderland Spiegeltent. Bringing burlesque to the beach with a new show ‘Circus Wonderland – A Mermaids Tale‘, roll up and take in this extraordinary venue.
Imported from Belgium with its original early 20th century décor including colorful stained glass windows, velvet drapings and warm wood furnishings, the Spiegeltent is one the festival’s star attractions. Expect acrobats, circus performers, cabaret stars and burlesque artists to dazzle, charm and tickle your fancy!
The Longest Lunch
Dine alfresco beneath the palm trees and take in our balmy tropical climate while lingering over a luscious long lunch. Cool breezes and ocean views, local produce matched with excellent wines and beers, this event is iconic Port Douglas. Seated at one long table, indulge in a long lazy lunch as the The Longest Lunch serves up plentiful produce and entertainment by Spiegeltent performers and cool tunes under the palms. The Longest Lunch is a long table style lunch with a tropical twist unique to Port Douglas: the exotic and excessive will have you saying “Encore!”

Carnivale Street Parade
Downtown Port Douglas’ Macrossan Street comes alive with dazzling entertainment for all with a true community event in the finest of Tropical North Queensland traditions. The Macrossan Street Parade has long been the opening highlight of Port Douglas Carnivale and draws eager crowds of thousands of spectators. A Carnivale favorite, the parade features festooned floats from local community and businesses, stilt walkers, fire twirlers, jugglers, electrifying performers and there’s always a few special surprises.
The family festivities kick off with a free kids disco, culminating in a dazzling fireworks show marking the official opening of Port Douglas Carnivale. This year’s Street Parade theme is Silver and Sunshine so don’t forget to join in the fun with your own festival costume!

Quicksilver Family Fun Beach Day
Grab family and friends and head to the Family Fun Beach Day at Four Mile Beach for a day of fun and frolic by the sea. Dream State Entertainment performers have dazzled audiences around the world will run a range of fun activities on the beach as well as a special show not to be missed. Don’t miss the amazing sky diving display. Dig deep into the Sandcastle and Sand Sculpting Competition. Salsa in the sand is fun for all ages as Jose from the Sabor dance school takes a Salsa class right on the beach with Latin music and a fun Carnivale vibe. Plus face painting, kids’ activities, market stalls, kite displays, beach hockey and much more!
