The Great Barrier Reef Masters Games are held across the Cairns region from 25 – 28 May 2017. These popular games were first held in Cairns in 2013. The Cairns and Port Douglas region is the ideal location to host the Games and is one of Australia’s most popular holiday hotspots thanks to a myriad of local attractions, dining, adventure sports, Great Barrier Reef activities and entertainment. All this within close proximity to Cairns and Port Douglas!
2,000 masters-aged men and women from Australia, Oceania and South East Asia are expected to compete in 20 individual and team sports across four days of competition in the Great Barrier Reef Masters Games.
No Masters Games would be complete without a fantastic social program and 2017 promises something for everyone. Activities include a welcome march past, Fluro Friday event and Summer-Lovin Saturday!
This year’s entertainment line-up includes three DJ’s, a party night with Adam Thompson from the Aria Award-Winning Australian Band Chocolate Starfish. With Adam at the helm as the band’s iconic front man, Chocolate Starfish earned two top ten singles and two top 5 albums with hits such as ‘You’re so vain’ and ‘Mountain’. Popular Masters band Dr Elephant and best-voted band of the 2015 Great Barrier Reef Masters Games, Sanchez are set to rock the stage over three fantastic nights.
