Port Douglas Carnivale is one of north Queensland’s favourite festivals! Held in venues across Port Douglas, there are plenty of events to suit everyone! The official festival runs from 26 to 28 May 2017, though some events, such as the always fabulous Spiegeltent starts a week earlier.

Saturday 27 May
Immersed in the picturesque backdrop of Rex Smeal Park and accompanied by world class live music, entertainment and a stunning sunset; Estrella Port on a Fork – Food, Music & Wine will be offering a sensory spectacular of performances, Pop-Up Burlesque acts, Fire Twirling, dancing under the moonlight and much more!

Carnivale is delighted to announce that BEN LEE will be joining us at Port on a Fork. The hugely popular and much loved singer-songwriter, multiple ARIA Award winner with hits such as, ‘Big Love’, ‘Catch My Disease’, ‘We’re all in this together’, have made him one of the Australia’s most identifiable and celebrated pop-smiths.

Plus a stunning lineup of independent talent including, Leanne Tennant the Queensland Music Awards winner for best Blues and Roots will also be joining us for the anticipated event.

The Hillbilly Goats who are renowned for big harmonies and a heavy presence of hard fiddle and fast harmonica. If you haven’t yet seen the Goats perform, be prepared to “Kick Yer Shoes off, Put Yer Hoe Down & Hang on to Yer Britches!!!”…
Vaudeville Smash who will bring a hugely popular dose of retro ’70s disco funk that will have everyone dancing. Their flamboyant, energetic lead singer will cavort about on stage as they groove their way through a set that is both hilarious and truly brilliant.

Fisherman’s Village Music Festival

Sunday 28 May
Port Douglas Carnivale is all about having a party in paradise and a fabulous family time together and what better way than a Music Festival for all ages!

With something for everyone Sunday the 28th of May will be a full family carnivale atmosphere of Music, Art, Circus acts, and entertainment. Enjoy the two main stages at the Wonderland Spiegeltent and at Rex Smeal Park. There will be licensed area serving Asahi premium beverages and De Bortoli Wines and a range of delicious seafood, food trucks, pop up milk bar, fairy floss and popcorn.

Sunday will have a wonderful line up of headlining non stop music featuring local favourites The Hillbilly Goats, a guest appearance from Ben Lee, Vaudeville Smash, Lenna-Marie Moxie, The Montgomery Brothers, Omar and Danny Ross. Picnic rugs are most welcome.

For the kids the Spiegeltent program will start at 10am with ABC KIDS Lah Lah’s Big Live Band, ‘Children are Stinky’ the 2016 Edinburgh Fringe Children’s Choice show award winners, Cooktown’s own Legends of Perhaps Family Band, art & circus workshops and more. You’ll even be able to take a ride high in the air on the giant ferris wheel!

Audrey Cuttlebuttle’s Great Bally Hooley Escape

Audrey Cuttlebuttle’s Great Bally Hooley Escape is a modern, live theatre event mixing outdoor entertainment with a moveable location and multiple stages. Guests board the Bally Hooley train from the Reef Marina to St Crispin’s station and return all whilst action will take place on the stations and on the path beside the moving train.

As the audience moves along they will be entertained with live action, situational comedy and information of the areas and businesses they pass, highlighting some of the Far North’s colourful characters and the beautiful fauna/flora.

Carnivale ‘Wonders of the Reef’ Street Parade

Friday 26 May
Macrossan Street comes alive with dazzling entertainment for the young and the young at heart.
A true community event in the finest of North Queenslander traditions, the Macrossan Street Parade has long been the opening highlight of Port Douglas Carnivale and regularly draws eager crowds of thousands.

From 5pm be captivated by the sights and sounds of live music and extraordinary street performers, indulge in the fresh goodies on offer at the market food stalls, and be thrilled by an array of amusement rides for the whole family. The parade will be kicking off at 6:30pm followed by a spectacular fireworks display at 9pm driving the party into high gear. The street fun continues into the night with the amusements  rides , food stalls and Port Douglas restaurants and bars.

Family Beach Day

Saturday 27 May
Grab your family and friends and head to the Family Beach Day for a full day of fun and frolic by the sea. Featuring an amazing Kite display with astounding giant, colourful kites and the chance to fly your own alongside the masters of the ocean winds. Dig deep in the Sand and join in on the Sand sculpting competition all while enjoying roving entertainment, face painting, kids activities, markets stalls and more.

Tropical Destinations Photographic Exhibition

Monday 22 May – Sunday 28 May
Must-see exhibition of stunning digital photography by our own local Douglas Photographic Society Inc. This is the annual Exhibition and competition for Club members, and showcases the beauty and wonder of the people, creatures and places of our wonderful region and beyond. The 2018 landscape calendar and printed images in various sizes and formats are available for sale. Opening night from 6.00pm on Monday 22nd May.
