Chef

Join us at Thala Beach Nature Reserve (Port Douglas Far North Queensland), one of Australia’s leading Eco resorts.

Osprey’s restaurant is our on-site restaurant set in the treetops which is renown locally and enjoyed by both the public and in-house guests alike. We encourage creativity with an emphasis on fresh ingredients and progressive dishes. Join our dynamic team and explore the Great Barrier Reef and Daintree rainforest while you are here.

Apprentice Chef

Seeking someone looking to start their career in the kitchen. Work alongside qualified chefs assisting in all aspects of food preparation and presentation and gain skills and knowledge of commercial cookery. Someone who demonstrates good communication with energy and enthusiasm and seeks out opportunities to learn.

Must have:

  • Australian Citizenship
  • Australian Permanent Residency
  • New Zealand Passport Holder residing in Australia for more than six months

Food and Beverage Attendant

Waiting and clearing tables within a fast paced team environment. Neat, efficient, friendly and attentive. Use of POS system and money handling.

Previous experience in front of house and customer service required. Available weekdays, nights and weekends. Previous bar and barista experience desirable.


Housekeeper

For immediate Start.

A dedicated hardworking individual who has an eye for detail to assist in cleaning rooms and public areas. You will be working as part of a team to maintain a high standard of cleanliness across our accommodation and all areas of the property.

You will be working as part of a team to maintain a high standard of cleanliness across our accommodation and all areas of the property.

Duties will include:

  • Dusting and polishing furniture and fittings
  • Cleaning and sanitising toilets, showers/bathtubs, countertops and sinks
  • Making beds and changing linen
  • Washing windows
  • Vacuuming timber, slate and tiles floors as well as rugs.

Resort Gardener

For immediate Start.

Experience in a previous gardening role with a passion for the environment and a demonstrated knowledge of native plants and animals. An interest in sharing knowledge with guests. A passion for maintaining a locally owned iconic 140 acre area of coastal nature reserve.

Requirements:

  • Experience in a previous role.
  • Knowledge of local flora and fauna.
  • Open to working weekends if required.
  • Chainsaw experience.
  • Willingness to learn.
  • Driver’s licence.

Duties will include:

  • Routine garden maintenance.
  • Blowing, mowing and clearing debri.
  • Basic pool maintenance.
  • Using pruning equipment.
  • Maintaining coconut plantation.
  • Edible garden maintenance.
  • Operating a range of gardening equipment and machinery.

Currently tours are conducted onsite covering birds, butterflies, general wildlife and coconuts. Experience in any of these fields would be an advantage. Knowledge of edible gardens, produce farming and/or tour guiding a bonus.

General Cleaner

This role calls for someone who is able to learn quickly and be comfortable working autonomously. You will be responsible for ensuring the appearance of the property and its grounds are of a high standard (some duties include sweeping, mopping, emptying bins, sanitising all public areas and general cleaning).

Shifts will commence at 0500 and conclude at 12 noon. 35 hours per week on a casual basis. Weekend work will be required and weekends penalties will apply.
